IBMYP Overview

At Mashrek International School, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) offers a coherent, challenging, and enriching curriculum for students aged 11–16. The MYP combines academic rigor with a focus on personal growth, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed both in school and in life beyond the classroom. Through inquiry-based learning and concept-driven exploration, students take ownership of their learning, embrace challenges, and reflect critically on the world around them.

Why Mashrek

At Mashrek, every child is known, valued, and supported within a caring, inclusive community. Our experienced passionate educators nurture curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning, while equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in the IB Diploma Programme. Through the MYP’s concept-driven, inquiry-based approach, students explore meaningful real-world ideas and global themes, developing as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and creative problem solvers. Small class sizes and world-class facilities, including labs, design studios, and sports spaces that support personalized learning, collaboration, and independence, while a strong focus on character, global awareness, and wellbeing prepares students to thrive as confident, compassionate, and responsible young people.

Wellbeing and Personal Growth

At Mashrek, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. Middle Years students are guided to develop social-emotional skills, self-awareness, and resilience, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence with confidence. We create safe, nurturing spaces where students feel supported, listened to, and empowered to make positive choices. Through a combination of pastoral care, and a focus on holistic development, students grow not only academically but emotionally and socially.

Flexible Learning Environments & Small Group Experiences

Mashrek’s learning spaces are open, flexible, and designed to encourage collaboration, independence, and active engagement. Small class sizes enable meaningful relationships between students and teachers:

  • Middle School (Grades 6–8): 1 teacher for every 7.7 students

  • Senior School (Grades 9–10): 1 teacher for every 7.4 students

Each subject has a dedicated teacher, supported by additional staff to ensure students receive personalized guidance.

Learning Through Global Contexts

Across all subjects, students explore six global contexts:

  • Identities and Relationships

  • Orientation in Space and Time

  • Personal and Cultural Expression

  • Scientific and Technical Innovation

  • Globalization and Sustainability

  • Fairness and Development

These contexts deepen understanding, broaden perspectives, and help students see how their learning connects to real-world issues and global challenges.
